I am a knitter of 17 years, a crocheter of 34 years, and a spinner and sewist in recent years. I opened my Etsy shop in 2010 with lots of encouragement from friends and family, selling knit and crochet clothing and accessories for babies, children, and adults.  I sold at events, like Farmers’ Markets and craft shows for brand recognition. It was slow going and a lot of competition in this niche.

In 2017, I designed a t-shirt with "I Knit so I Don't Kill People" on it. Everyone in my knit group wanted one. That was my lightbulb moment, "there must be other yarn lovers out there that would appreciate my sense of humor or enjoy a little sweary or snarky attitude in their notions and accessories."  That was when I decided to rebrand and so after much deliberation I placed my Etsy shop on vacation from 2020 until 2022, to do product research, learn more about SEO, and expand my gifts, notions, and accessories that fiber artists would not only use but enjoy using over and over.  I was very nervous about offending people’s sensibilities with my style of craft notions. After some serious encouragement from my son, I rebranded my shop in August 2022 and in September, I sold my first “I Knit Sh!t” yarn cozy.

 

When I discovered a fabric supplier online who had designers that specialized in sweary fabric, I knew I found my niche. I completely changed my product line and brand in October 2022 and sold my highest selling yarn cozy to date – “Holy Sh!t Balls” (over 120 sold). I’m so glad I listened to my son back then because I have found a whole new community of fiber artists who appreciate and enjoy my sense of humor - who even give me new ideas on snarky, sassy, or sweary sayings they'd like to see on their notions, gifts, and accessories.

If you are also a yarn lover/fiber enthusiast who likes their accessories and notions to be witty or funny but oftentimes sweary, this is the shop for you. I make yarn cozies, project bags, and t-shirts, that will raise eyebrows and are definitely conversation starters. Your stitch 'n b!tch nights will not be the same when you show up with your "Holy Sh!t Balls" yarn cozy!
